Active shooter – or active killer incidents present a host of different problems and issues. First, the killer’s goal is not traditional crime – it is to murder as many people as is possible within a relatively short period of time. The challenges of engaging and defeating an active killer require training designed to help you defeat the active killer before the goal is achieved. The majority of active killer events are resolved by people inside the incident while it is occurring BEFORE law enforcement arrives. Knowing what to do, especially in the earliest moments of an active killer incident is critical to starting the response process and surviving the incident.
Responses depend on whether you are armed or not. The FTG Surviving a Violent Event Seminar teaches you to avoid and address violent criminal activity and active killer events if you are unarmed. The FTG Active Killer Response Program trains you to use firearms to defeat active killer threats and traditional criminal activity involving imminent death or bodily harm.
Don’t wait until violence finds you – prepare now. Develop a plan. Train to survive.

An active shooter is an armed killer who uses deadly force on innocent victims and will continue the murderous rampage until stopped. Until then, the killer has unrestricted access to additional victims. Active shooter incidents may be rare in comparison to other violent criminal activities but their effects are devastating. FTG’s Active Killer Response Program combines situational awareness training, crime prevention and avoidance techniques with defensive firearms tactics to confront active killing situations.
Active killer events are unpredictable and evolve quickly and are mostly over before law enforcement arrives on the scene. Studies show many active killer attacks are stopped during the shooting – but not by law enforcement. Seventy-five percent of those attacks were stopped by persons present during the incident. Going weaponless against a killer is perilous thought but you may have no other alternative. You must take every measure to survive. If you are a lawfully armed citizen the odds of surviving the attack go up substantially. Being armed may make the difference of surviving or not.
What are you prepared to do? Are you trained to meet the threat and stop it? What will you do? FTG’s Active Killer Response Program gives a person ballistic response options and the training to implement them.
